Full HD Camera? or HD Camera?

The principle difference between a HD and a full HD camera is the number of pixels (points of light) the camera contains when it produces either a still or moving image. Just like with your television set, digital cameras scan horizontal lines of pixels which produce an image for the eye. By increasing the number of lines of pixels, the pixel density is much greater which creates a much sharper and clearer image.
In order to qualify as a standard high definition video camera, a product must be '720', which means there are 720 horizontal lines of pixels and 1280 vertical lines. A full HD camera will have 1080 horizontal lines and 1920 vertical ones.
Autoptic Cameras are all Full HD or HD. The rear Cameras of our 2 channel systems is a VGA camera.

The Quality of our cameras and their recordings when compared to competitors is clear. So are the images.
See. Believe.

Which Camera Model to select?

All our Cameras are Quality Cameras.

Qualities include:

• Video Quality is typically the Number 1 criteria when selecting a Quality Car Camera. Autoptic Cameras are all Full HD or HD. Day and Night recordings are clear, vivid and are as a result of the Advanced Lens Technology used.
• Discreetness - our cameras are all very small in size-yet large in Functions and Reliability.
• 1 Channel Camera or 2 Channel Camera: Our 2 Channel enabled Cameras allows users to monitor both the front and rear of the vehicle at the same time. Whilst a 1 Channel will only monitor the front view.
• Automatic hassle free recording, recording upon starting the engine and stops upon engine being turned off.
• AUTO Parking Mode with motion detection for surveillance recording.
• G sensors to indicate the direction of force/impact.
• PC software is included to easily analyse or view recorded files and to change various settings.
• Categorize the recording files to Normal, Parking and Event recording for easy search.
• Speed and direction information for more detailed analysis reports (with GPS model).
• Better file size compression technology for more efficient memory storage.

Depending on your requirements- there's an array of Camera Functions/Options to consider:

A Built-in GPS is built within the Camera and does not require a separate GPS Module (antennae)
It records the driving speed and displays the data in the supplied PC Software player. It also records the driving coordinates (i.e. latitude and longitude) then displays the driving routes on Google Map.
A GPS Out Port enables your camera to connect to an external GPS Module. The GPS Module (antennae) is a separate item that you can order with most of our Cameras.

• G-Sensor
A G-Sensor has a set of multi-axis (X,Y,Z) coordinates and is used to detect magnitude and direction of the acceleration as a vector quantity. It is used to note the vibration from any kinds of impact which gets recorded on the memory card in the Camera. The 3- axis G-sensors records the direction of any impact to your vehicle.

• Voice Guide
Built in Voice Command instructions for the operation of the Camera.

• Motion Detection
The motion detection feature contains an electronic sensor that can be either integrated with or connected to other devices that alert the user of the presence of a moving object within the field of view.

• Parking Mode/Surveillance Mode
Parking mode enables recordings to occur when motion is detected -thereby reduces a frame per second. The result is better memory efficiency with more storage space available.
AUTO Parking Mode ensures that motion and vibrations detected to your vehicle is recorded automatically. Cameras record when the vehicle is parked/off/unattended. A Power Control Unit is required for this feature.

• Video Out
A video out Port enables Real-time video monitoring. The video out port enables you to synchronize the Camera with external devices so that you can monitor the real-time video.

• Event Mode
When an impact occurs to your car while you are driving, the Camera detects this automatically and starts recording the event.
Event recording will be activated if there is shock detected above the allowable threshold setting by the 3-axis built in G-sensors.

• Manual Recording
REC saves and stores the data as an Event Mode for specified minutes. The data will be kept even though the new data overwrites the old data when SD memory card becomes full. If you wish to record a particular scene, this manual recording function is quite handy.

• Audio Recording
Cameras have a built-in microphone, the surrounding sounds are recorded while video recording.

• Continuous looping / cycle function.
When the memory card fills up, the camera will delete the oldest file and continue recording.

• Specialized Camera Software
Dedicated Camera software allows you to take control of your unit and browse videos, change video resolution settings, voice guide options, LED indication and automatic switching to and from parking mode.

Our Cameras will save the videos in either .AVI or .MOV format. Most video players such as Windows Media Player or VLC Media Player can play these files. Cameras with GPS and G-sensor capabilities, comes with mapping software specific to the Camera Brand.

To edit your video files, Windows Movie Maker is a decent solution. If you are having trouble with .MOV files consider the following freeware software solutions:
AviDemux - can import and edit the .MOV files

Free Video Converter - can convert a .MOV file to another format such as AVI but also allows you to do simple editing such as cutting and joining
mp4cam2avi - can convert .MOV files to AVI. You can then use any free AVI editor such as Virtual Dub to edit

How do you install the Camera?

Cameras are easy to install and comes with instructions for plug and play use.
For hardwired installations (direct wiring to your vehicles fuse box) installation by yourself or we can recommend to have it installed by a professional. We have a list of professional installers who can assist. Please ask us if you require a professional installation.

How does the Camera receive power?

The Cameras are powered directly via the included cigarette adapter, or alternatively you can choose to hardwire the unit to the vehicle so it starts when the car is started.
Most of our Camera Range have the option of a Power Control Adaptor that will enable your Camera to record in Surveillance Mode without your vehicles battery being discharge.
Surveillance Mode is when your car is unattended- and your vehicle is off.

Car battery draining can be a concern when continuously using your Camera in Surveillance Mode. In this scenario, the Camera requires its power supply direct to the battery source.(i.e. permanent supply of power to the Camera)
A Power Control Adaptor will prevent the draining of your car battery. The device constantly monitors the car battery, and if the voltage drops to a certain value, it will cut off the power to the Camera automatically. An added feature of the Power Adaptor is its ability to be programmed to various timer settings. When the selected Time Range has lapsed- recording will automatically stop.

What is the correct method to remove the MicroSD card?

First disconnect the power from the unit and wait for it to finish powering down. Once the unit has completely shut down press on the microSD card in its slot on the side of the unit. Always reinsert the microSD card prior to powering on the device.
Failure to follow these steps may corrupt data stored on your sd card.

My unit is having problems recording to or detecting the MicroSD card?

You may have disconnected your microSD card in an improper manner that has caused it to become corrupt or it has developed bad sectors due to prolonged write/re-write cycles.
We recommend formatting your microSD card at least once a month. This will maintain the longevity of your microSD card and minimize similar issues in the future.
Please ensure that you have backed up all video files that you wish to keep prior to formatting.

How do you update firmware?

If there is a new firmware available for your unit we recommend installing it onto the microSD card prior to your first usage of the new unit. This will ensure your unit has the most current firmware installed.
